GHOST TOWN IN THE SKY
Maggie Valley, NC

After our first trip by Ghost Town earlier in the year, I decided to write a story on the park to hopefully spark some interest from a potiential buyer. I talked with Scott Rutherford and he thought it would be a good idea as well.

I was lucky enough to get an exclusive tour of Ghost Town over a month's period while I was writing the article for Amusement Today. It is out now in the September issue. I really hope to see this place open again but it does not look good at the moment.

Here is the top of the chair lift.

This park closed at the end of the 2002 season and is currently for sale.

At the top you see the Red Devil waiting!

Red Devil is the main attraction in Mining Town. Here you see the first drop out of the station into the loop. Notice the small green support near the bottom. This is where the "Silver Bullet" once stood, but was removed because they thought it would kill someone.

Silver Bullet was a coaster type ride that was like a log ride on a rail. They said that after testing it, it was decided it was too dangerous of a ride, so they took it out. This is where it flew down the mountain into the slash pool.

They even ran the Red Devil for us. Yes, this coaster is operational. Don't listen to the crazy ACERS who say it's not!

Check out the fog rolling in..totally creepy!

Here is my car, parked on top of the mountain ....DON'T HATE! This was cool as shizzz, I mean how many peeps have driven they cars up in Ghost Town?

Here I am cold chillin in the front car of Red Devil....and whut? I may be the last person to sit here EVER!

This is the loading station and you are very VERY high up here.

Check out the drop!

You can see the whole ride while you wait.

Here is a cool shot of the whole drop into the loop.

Another shot of the loop.

The lift hill is at the end of the ride and the views are amazing!

Here is a shot of the wheels on the train.

Ghost Mine is a walk though haunted attraction also located in Mining Town.

Also here is Black Widow, an indoor Scrambler. This had to be one of the first ever.

The bumper cars are located across from the Red Devil. These were excellent in their day!

They have seen their better days.

Here is an old lift chain for the Red Devil.
